We are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable and engaging Physics & Chemistry Teacher to join our online teaching team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons aligned with the UK curriculum and helping students develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts.
The ideal teacher should be able to break down complex scientific ideas into simple, clear and relatable explanations, while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking and active participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Physics and Chemistry lessons for students in Years 9–11.
- Teach in line with the relevant GCSE/UK curriculum and examination requirements.
- Explain complex scientific concepts in a simple and accessible manner.
- Use practical examples, demonstrations, diagrams and real-life applications to enhance understanding.
- Prepare lesson materials, presentations, activities and assessments.
- Set and mark classwork, homework, quizzes and examination-style questions.
- Monitor students’ progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify areas where students are struggling and provide appropriate support.
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations.
- Encourage students to ask questions, participate actively and develop independent learning skills.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance and progress.
- Deliver lessons punctually and maintain a professional online learning environment.
- Record and submit lessons as required by the school’s procedures.
- Communicate professionally with the school’s management team regarding student progress or concerns.
- Participate in teacher meetings, training and professional development activities when required.
Essential Requirements
- A degree or recognised qualification in Physics, Chemistry, Science Education or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the UK/GCSE Physics and Chemistry curriculum.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience, preferably at secondary/GCSE level.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts and teach them in an engaging way.
- Good classroom management skills, particularly in an online environment.
- Ability to use online teaching platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom.
- Reliable internet connection and suitable equipment for online teaching.
- Ability to prepare high-quality teaching resources and assessments.
- Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- GCSE examination preparation experience.
- Experience teaching both Physics and Chemistry.
- Experience with AQA, Edexcel, OCR or other UK examination boards.
- Experience teaching students of different abilities.
- Experience delivering practical demonstrations virtually or online.
Pay: From ₦120,000.00 per hour
Work Location: Remote (Nigeria)
