Job Description:
Cháps is looking for a dedicated Finance Manager to take on a pivotal role within the company. This position goes beyond traditional finance – it’s an opportunity to influence both financial stability and operational performance in a dynamic, high-speed supply setting, supporting the delivery of products to the mass market in a fast-growing UK based company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with senior management to develop financial strategies for the organization. You are comfortable handling data, acting as a business partner, decision maker, and providing regular financial reporting.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing Cháps’ financial operations, reporting and planning, ensuring the business has the financial insight and controls needed to support sustainable growth. You will play a key role in driving commercial decision-making through accurate reporting, robust financial analysis and effective cash flow management.
This is a hands-on role. You will manage everything from budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting to reconciliations, cash flow, inventory analysis and supporting strategic commercial initiatives. As a fast-growing business, we are looking for someone who can establish scalable financial processes, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability, and build a strong financial foundation as the company continues to expand.
You will work closely with the founders and external finance partners to provide timely insights, support key business decisions and ensure the company’s financial performance is accurately monitored and effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities:
Take Ownership of the Numbers: Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll preparation, and bank reconciliations. Manage month-end and year-end closing activities and produce key financial reports such as P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management: Actively monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring optimal working capital to support rapid product turnover and business agility.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, tracking performance against key retail and wholesale KPIs to drive informed decision-making.
Product Costings & Margin Analysis: Calculate accurate product costings and margins. Provide insights and recommendations to improve pricing strategies and overall profitability.
Receivables & Credit Control: Oversee accounts receivable and enforce effective credit control measures to maintain strong cash flow.
Operational & Process Improvements: Continuously identify opportunities to enhance financial and operational workflows across ordering, warehousing, and delivery processes.
Strategic Business Partner: Act as a trusted advisor to the business owners, offering financial and operational insights that support long-term, sustainable growth.
Lead Cost Monitoring & Analysis: Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to capture and allocate all components of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), delivering accurate financial reporting and data-driven margin insights.
Strategic Advisor: Serve as a key financial and operational advisor to the business owners, providing insights and recommendations that support sustainable growth.
Filings and Reports: Ensure all tax filings, financial reports, and operational deadlines are delivered accurately and on time.
Essential experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in financial management, MUST HAVE within the consumer goods / FMCG industry
- BSc. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong track record of calculating and improving margins and overall profitability.
- Ability to independently manage both finance and operations, from strategic planning to hands-on execution.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with accounting platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have a solid understanding of UK tax laws and financial regulations
- Experience working within food, beverage, FMCG or consumer lifestyle brands.
- An interest in African culture, food, drink and contemporary consumer brands.

You should be equally confident preparing financial reports, managing budgets and forecasts, analysing financial performance, and providing clear commercial insights to support business decisions. You will have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to build effective relationships across the business. You will be excited by the opportunity to improve financial processes, strengthen controls, and help shape the finance function as the business continues to grow.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 6–12 months, you will have:
- Strengthened financial planning, reporting, and control processes to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
- Delivered reliable budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to support commercial decision-making.
- Improved financial visibility through clear, insightful management reporting and performance analysis.
- Identified and implemented cost-saving and margin improvement opportunities across the business.
- Ensured robust financial controls, compliance, and governance are in place and operating effectively.
- Partnered with leadership to provide commercial financial insight that supports sustainable growth and profitability.
- Enhanced the efficiency of finance operations through process improvements and system optimisation.
- Established key financial KPIs and reporting frameworks to monitor business performance and support strategic decision-making.
