• FilingFlow: A regulatory intelligence platform for researching SEC filings, companies, ownership changes, private placements, investment advisers, and funds.
• Basin One: A privacy-focused, multi-model AI chat platform that helps users access the most appropriate AI model for each task.
• Basin Research: An AI-assisted tax research and advisory platform grounded in authoritative tax laws, regulations, rulings, and guidance.
• Basin Reporting: A financial reporting and accounting workflow platform for transaction processing, reconciliations, journal entries, workpapers, KPI analysis, and management reporting.

Position Overview

DataDock.ai is seeking a Technical Product Manager to help lead the development and delivery of our four core products.

You will work with company leadership, customers, designers, software engineers, data engineers, and AI engineers to define product requirements, prioritize the roadmap, manage the backlog, and guide features from discovery through production release.

The ideal candidate can understand customer workflows, communicate effectively with technical teams, and manage products involving AI, financial data, regulatory information, integrations, and complex business rules.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Strategy and Discovery

• Maintain product roadmaps for FilingFlow, Basin One, Basin Research, and Basin Reporting.
• Interview customers and stakeholders to identify problems, workflows, and product opportunities.
• Translate customer needs into clear, repeatable product capabilities.
• Prioritize initiatives based on customer value, revenue potential, market demand, technical effort, and strategic importance.
• Conduct market and competitor research.
• Define success metrics for new products and features.

Requirements and Backlog Management

• Create product requirement documents, workflows, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain and prioritize product backlogs using Azure Boards.
• Document business rules, technical dependencies, user permissions, edge cases, and data requirements.
• Ensure requirements are clear and testable before engineering begins.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, product reviews, and retrospectives.
• Clearly communicate product decisions and changes to stakeholders.

Product-Specific ResponsibilitiesFilingFlow

• Define research and monitoring workflows using SEC filings and regulatory data.
• Develop requirements for company research, filing timelines, private placements, advisers and funds, ownership changes, portfolio monitoring, and alerts.
• Ensure information is traceable to the correct filing, form, reporting period, entity, and source document.
• Define requirements for historical comparisons, filing changes, relationships, verification, and point-in-time research.
• Ensure the product clearly communicates data limitations and avoids unsupported conclusions.

Basin One

• Define requirements for private, multi-model AI conversations.
• Develop workflows for model selection, automatic model routing, conversation management, file handling, and user privacy controls.
• Work with engineering teams on model integrations, API usage, response streaming, latency, reliability, and cost management.
• Define privacy requirements for query anonymization, data retention, conversation storage, and third-party model providers.
• Ensure users understand which model is being used and how their information is handled.
• Support advanced capabilities such as user-provided API keys while maintaining appropriate privacy and security controls.

Basin Research

• Define tax research and advisory workflows grounded in authoritative sources.
• Develop requirements for research questions, citations, source verification, tax interpretations, strategies, and industry-specific tax guidance.
• Work with AI teams on retrieval, search, reranking, response generation, and answer evaluation.
• Define standards for citation accuracy, source authority, completeness, confidence, and review notices.
• Ensure responses distinguish authoritative law and guidance from interpretations or practical recommendations.
• Incorporate feedback from tax professionals into product improvements.

Basin Reporting

• Define accounting, financial-close, reporting, and analysis workflows.
• Develop requirements for bank-statement processing, transaction matching, journal entries, reconciliations, workpapers, review queues, and financial reporting.
• Support integrations with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks and other financial systems.
• Define requirements for KPI tracking, variance analysis, period comparisons, dashboards, and management reports.
• Work with accounting professionals to validate calculations, controls, review procedures, and approval workflows.
• Ensure financial information can be traced from reports back to the underlying transaction or source document.

Technical Delivery

• Collaborate with engineers on APIs, databases, data pipelines, AI models, integrations, and cloud services.
• Coordinate feature development across design, engineering, data, AI, and QA teams.
• Manage technical dependencies, risks, blockers, and scope changes.
• Coordinate testing, user acceptance, release readiness, and post-release monitoring.
• Verify that completed features meet functional, data-quality, security, privacy, and usability requirements.
• Maintain release notes and communicate changes to internal stakeholders.
• Help balance customer needs, engineering constraints, product quality, and delivery timelines.

AI Quality and Product Analytics

• Define metrics for adoption, engagement, retention, response quality, latency, reliability, and customer value.
• Establish evaluation criteria for AI accuracy, retrieval quality, citation correctness, and completeness.
• Create feedback mechanisms for incorrect answers, missing sources, failed workflows, and poor user experiences.
• Use product analytics and customer feedback to guide roadmap priorities.
• Define fallback behavior when the system lacks sufficient information or confidence to provide a reliable answer.

Security and Privacy

• Define requirements for authentication, role-based access, tenant isolation, encryption, audit logs, and data retention.
• Ensure customer data is not shared across organizations or used in unauthorized model-training activities.
• Evaluate privacy and security implications of third-party APIs, AI models, data sources, and integrations.
• Work with engineering teams to ensure sensitive tax, financial, and conversation data is handled appropriately.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• At least two years of experience in technical product management, software product management, business analysis, or software delivery.
• Experience writing product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience managing product backlogs using Azure Boards, Jira, Linear, or a similar platform.
• Working knowledge of APIs, databases, cloud services, data pipelines, and software integrations.
• General understanding of AI products, large language models, and data-driven applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in an early-stage company.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Reliable internet access and availability during agreed Eastern Time working hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing AI, SaaS, financial technology, regulatory technology, accounting, or tax products.
• Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, AI model APIs, embeddings, search, and citation workflows.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with SEC filings, tax research, accounting workflows, or financial reporting.
• Experience working with designers and distributed engineering teams.
• Previous experience at an early-stage technology company.
